Can supplements offset a poor diet?

We all love pizza. It ticks all the boxes, right? It’s got sweet, it’s got fat, it’s got spice, and it’s got whatever toppings suit your needs. There’s a reason why it’s the world’s most popular food. But we can’t live solely on that, and adding chicken fingers and fries to the mix isn’t making matters any better. Can supplements offset a poor diet?

After all, isn’t that what supplements are for? To give us the healthy nutrients and minerals we need that we aren’t getting from a bad diet?

The short answer is no. Vitamins and minerals are basic for keeping us healthy. No matter how tough it is to eat a healthy diet, a supplement on its own is not the answer. Wellbeing depends on a balanced diet. Supplements can play a big role in this, but much like protein shakes don’t grow muscle on their own, they aren’t the only answer.

If you are going to take a supplement, be sure it’s a good one. New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel Oil is among the most effective supplements for joint pain and inflammation and offers an array of other benefits. The Omega-3 fatty acids in the oil significantly helps with overall body health, but it is still important to eat healthy to get the full variety of vitamins and nutrients needed.

What do supplements do, and what can’t they do?

One way to look at supplements is as one all-star player on a team. Eat your veggies. Complement them with supplements. Optimize health.

There’s more to the picture, however. Our diets are full of high-fat foods, and it’s nearly impossible to eat at a restaurant without losing track of the calorie count. So the basis of adding supplements for optimal wellbeing has some legitimacy, as it allows users to be sure they receive certain vitamins and nutrients.

There are some people who benefit the most from supplements such as New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel Oil. Those with osteoarthritis, for example, can see significant benefit. Other supplements are designed to benefit women trying to become pregnant, people needing more iron, basically any type of general ailment or enhancement can be aided in some way by a supplement.

But supplements don’t provide the calories needed to live a healthy life. They also don’t fill you up, and unless you’re taking enough different supplements to cover all the bases of a regular meal, you’re not getting all of the fruits, veggies, healthy carbs, and other factors that come from well-balanced diets.

As a general rule, take a supplement to aid in the recovery, development, or progress of one specific area you’re trying to work on. Don’t count on it to give you all the vitamins and minerals you need, and don’t assume you’re offsetting a lack of veggies by taking a pill. That’s why they’re called ‘supplements,’ right? They supplement your efforts.

Supplements aren’t the only answer to your problems

The keyword here is ‘only.’ When you have a certain issue, such as joint pain and inflammation, you need a specific compound or compounds to help. In this case, it’s Omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation and help you get back to the activities you love doing with less pain. But we’ll stress it again here: Can supplements offset a poor diet? No!

Healthy living is an ongoing journey, requiring vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Oh, and exercise. Don’t forget about that! A supplement will help with a specific category.

Vitamin and mineral supplements don’t give the advantages of vegetables, plant-based proteins, or fiber.

Entire dietary plans ordinarily contain vitamins and minerals in various structures – for instance, vitamin E happens in nature in eight unique structures. Most supplements contain only one of these structures.

The guarantee of noticed advantages from supplements stems from what truly improves wellbeing. For most adults, supplements should regularly be taken at levels near the suggested dietary admission. Higher than recommended doses of a supplement ought not to be taken unless suggested by a doctor.

Identifying what you need

If you’re reading this, you’re probably either interested in adding a supplement to your regimen or are already taking one (or more). Here at GLX3, we specialize in the complete food of New Zealand Green Lipped Mussels, so we’ll focus on them for our example situation here.

Let’s say that you are a tennis player, and have a been noticing significant joint pain after your practices and matches. You don’t want to quit your favorite sport, but don’t want to play through pain either.

Through research, you’ve come up with a dietary plan for joint pain including salmon, nuts, and other anti-inflammatory food items. You’re working hard to cut out anything with trans-fats, excessive dairy, and highly processed stuff like cookies and frozen dinners.

But you want something to give the process a nice firm kick into high gear. This is where a supplement comes in. New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel Oil’s anti-inflammatory properties can act as a super effective booster to reducing joint pain and inflammation.

By developing an action plan, supplements can be an effective part of your diet. But supplements cannot offset a poor diet.

Long-term goals

Some of you may be in more of a dire need for reducing joint pain and inflammation than our tennis player example. Perhaps you’re a former athlete, or have been diagnosed with arthritis and need a lasting plan.

New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel Oil can help you in this case because long-term use is doable. It’s not a supplement that stops being effective over time. Anti-inflammatory measures are an ongoing process. Eat healthy, stretch, and take your vitamins. Can supplements offset a poor diet? No. Are supplements the one-stop-shop for fixing your chronic pain? Probably not. But they are an important step in the process. Supplements such as GLX3 are natural, sustainable, and much more adaptable for your body and diet than highly processed synthetic solutions.

Remember: whole body health is an ongoing process that requires ongoing effort from multiple fronts. It may sound intimidating, but once you get into a routine the process is actually quite enjoyable.
